Two hundred Compton Gardens Retirement Village residents turned out to celebrate the village’s 20th birthday with a fully catered lunch in the village’s auditorium on the 10th of October.

Established in 1990 on almost ten hectares of what was then farmland, the village has grown to full capacity and now comprises 274 independent living units and 26 serviced apartments as well as an impressive list of community facilities.

Founded by Everald Compton and developed at a cost of $25 million by Watkins Pacific Ltd, Compton Gardens was said to be the fastest selling village in Brisbane at the time and was a leader in promoting a ‘community lifestyle’ for retirees.

In 1993 the J.R. Wyllie Centre (auditorium) was opened in recognition of Jim Wylie’s service to Compton Gardens, the community and his country. Mr Wylie’s involvement in Compton Gardens began in 1989 when he helped Watpac select the site next to Aspley Hypermarket for the village and was instrumental in selling the village when it opened in 1990.

Compton Gardens Retirement Village was purchased by TriCare Ltd in 1996.  This was the first time TriCare had purchased an existing village, having previously developed Mt Gravatt Retirement Village James Ommaney Village and Cypress Gardens Retirement Community.

With manicured gardens, great facilities and a fantastic location within walking distance to the Aspley Hypermarket, Compton Gardens is well known in the local community for providing a wonderful lifestyle full of companionship, security and independence to retirees.

The village facilities include pools, indoor bowls, library, hairdressing salon, craft rooms and doctors consultation rooms, so even if you no longer drive, everything is accessible and on hand.

Chauvel’s Restaurant is situated in ‘Federation Square’, the hub of the village, and is open daily for lunch, light meals and coffee and cake.  ‘Chauvel’s’ also holds a carvery for residents on Tuesday nights and is open for special events.

We currently have studio, one bedroom apartments and villas available for purchase with prices for 1 bedroom independent living apartments starting from $123,000 (subject to availability).

Now really couldn’t be a better time to purchase so if you have thought about making the move to Compton Gardens Retirement Village, don’t hesitate to contact us on 07 3263 2788.
