James Ommaney Village Art Show

Local artists and residents of James Ommaney Village joined together for the James Ommaney Village Art Show held from the 15th to the 17th of May.

Following the success of last years' exhibition, the Art Show featured talented local artists in categories ranging from Oils and Acrylics through to more modern mediums.

This years' judge, award winning artist Shirley Charlton, awarded prizes to entrants of up to $250 with all of the artwork exhibited offered for sale.

TriCare's James Ommaney Village residents were involved in planning and running the event and some residents also contributed to the Art Work on display.

Resident and artist Miss Mel Balkin donated one of her bark paintings entitled "Autumn Blooms" which was raffled at the Opening Night Ceremony on Friday the 15th of May.

The lucky winner, one of the village's residents, took home a wonderful piece of art.

"The Art Show is the biggest social event on our local calendar to encourage art and artist", Miss Balkin said.

"It is a wonderful opportunity to donate to a charity and it brings the community together to view the beautiful art on display.

I have had much pleasure in doing the bark painting and felt honoured to be asked to donate one of my pieces".

Each year a charity organisation is chosen to benefit from the Art Show in the form of a donation. This year Zoe's Place Children's Hospice was the recipient of a $550 donation, with artists and visitors alike contributing through admission tickets and exhibition entry fees.
