About the role:
Located at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast’s Northside, TriCare’s Runaway Bay Retirement Community is seeking a permanent part time Maintenance Officer for 67.5hrs per fortnight.
Workdays will be
Week 1 – Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm
Week 2 – Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm
To continue to offer high standards of service and care, we are currently seeking an experienced and capable Maintenance Officer. As a team member, you will be supported by a Maintenance Team Supervisor and be responsible for ensuring the following tasks are carried out:
- Maintenance – Undertake routine preventative maintenance schedules and respond promptly to reactive maintenance requirements, including minor unit and common area maintenance needs.
- Gardens and Grounds Maintenance – Including mulching, maintenance of common area gardens, community general maintenance.
- General Community Cleaning – Maintenance of exterior presentation, including buildings, accessible windows, pathways, BBQ areas, outdoor furniture, and waste rubbish logistics.
- Pool Maintenance – Monitoring our 3 swimming pools and spas on a regular basis and ensuring the condition of these facilities meet the expectation of the residents in between the external contractors weekly servicing.
- Administration – Assist the Maintenance Team Leader with audits of the retirement community and provide maintenance issues and actions reports.
- Workplace Health and Safety – Assist with audits of the retirement community, contractors and key stakeholders.
Skills and attributes:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role
- Sound maintenance skills with a broad range of practical applications
- Garden / Landscaping experience (advantageous)
- Sound knowledge of the understanding of chemical Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and associated safety precautions
- Sound knowledge of equipment operation and safety
- Ability to understand and apply Work Health Safety standards to internal work processes.
- Thorough knowledge to the understanding and implementation of emergency procedures.
- A good level of communication skills.
- A good level of empathy and emotional intelligence to ensure Residents’ needs are understood and supported.
- A good understanding of team coordination.
- First Aid/CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain upon appointment)
- Must hold a medium rigid license at minimum for the resident bus excursions and weekly shopping transport.
Remuneration is set according to Level 5 of the Aged Care Award $29.94 per hr.
