Various visiting health services help you to maintain your wellbeing. A physiotherapist, podiatrist, speech therapist and diversional therapist ensure you receive the care you need while GPs, dentist and pharmaceutical services are also available.

Nestled in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, next to the picturesque Mooloola River, Kawana Waters Aged Care Residence features light-filled lounges with stunning river views. Our alfresco areas with comfortable seating, BBQs and riverside gazebos are popular choices for family events and social gatherings.

Enjoy a wide choice of tasty, nutritious meals in our contemporary dining room while catching up with other residents. Our in-house Chef delights in preparing food that is healthy and meets your daily dietary needs.

You can participate in the lifestyle program, designed to help residents remain active and engaged. Enjoy various activities, including bus trips, music, cinema, jewellery making, pottery, church services, and gardening suitable for seniors in a wheelchair. Our Lifestyle Coordinators also run special interest activities such as card making, cooking, trivia, quizzes and a men’s group.

An aged care home, such as TriCare Kawana Waters, is a supportive community that provides residential accommodation and healthcare services for seniors and individuals who require assistance with daily living due to illness, disability, or frailty. It’s also commonly referred to as an aged care residence, aged care facility, or nursing home.

People may choose to move to an aged care home for various reasons, including illness or disability that makes it difficult to manage daily tasks, an emergency situation that requires immediate support, increasing pressure on family carers, or difficulty managing daily tasks without assistance.

At TriCare Kawana Waters on the Sunshine Coast, our residents receive personalised support with daily tasks such as meal preparation and assistance, cleaning and laundry services, personal care including showering, dressing, and grooming, 24-hour nursing care from qualified nursing staff, medication management, continence care, and wound care and treatment.

In addition to these essential services, we offer specialised care and support for complex health conditions, including memory-support care and palliative care. The Australian Government subsidises a range of aged care homes in Australia. This means affordable care and support services can be accessed by those who need it. The subsidies are paid directly to the aged care home.

The amount of funding that a home receives is based on:

an assessment of your care needs by the home (using a tool called the Aged Care Funding Instrument or ACFI)
how much you can afford to contribute to the cost of your care and accommodation (using an income and assets assessment) To get the funding, subsidised aged care homes have to meet Aged Care Quality Standards to ensure quality care and services are provided.

Aged care funding and fees can be complex, but they generally involve a combination of government support and personal contributions. To determine the appropriate fees and funding, residents must undergo a financial assessment. This assessment considers both income and assets, including property, savings, and investments. Here is a breakdown of how it typically works.

Basic Daily Fee: Covers daily living costs such as meals, cleaning, and laundry. It is set at 85% of the single basic age pension rate.
Means-Tested Fee: An additional contribution based on an income and assets assessment. This fee has annual and lifetime caps.
Accommodation Costs: Payment for accommodation can be made as a lump sum (Refundable Accommodation Deposit or RAD), a daily payment (Daily Accommodation Payment or DAP), or a combination of both. Government assistance may be available for eligible individuals

Every time I visit my mum she is clean and well dressed she gets along well with all of the staff and appears to be quite happy. Instead of being in a traditional place for dementia patients which have the feel of a prison TRICARE have a wonderful secure arrangement using a security bracelet which allows mum to wonder the complex safely. I am very happy with the care mum receives and thank the staff there for their care.
